The Role of Exercise in Promoting Mental Health

      In this program participants will be exposed to the most recent scientific literature studying the relationship between exercise and mental health. They will gain an understanding of the role exercise can play in creating mental health and then explore possible physiological and psychological mechanisms for this interaction. Finally, participants will be advised on how to begin a safe exercise program and be provided with motivation tips for adhering to their exercise plan. This program can be tailored to meet the needs of a specific group and can range from a 30 minute information session to a two hour interactive workshop. In addition, this program can be designed specifically for mental health professions who wish to integrate exercise into their clinical practice.

Heather Brewer LCSW, ACSM Certified Exercise Specialist
Heather specializes in the relationship between mental and physical health and how they impact one another. Heather has master's degrees in social work and exercise physiology. She has 15 years of experience addressing health and mental health issues and her focus is to assist clients in finding balance in their life and help them maximize both their physical and their emotional health.
